Not so busy at work these days, hence I have not been blogging. I’m wired strange like that. When I am super swamped with work, I tend to blog a lot. I think my mind just works better when I am under stress. When it’s down time at work (like now), my brain slows down and all I want to do is take long lunches and…. online shop.
Which is what I have been doing. The shit I buy during work hours! Oh my. These online shops are run by young girls who obviously got their goods wholesale from Korea (or over-runs from China factories, I don’t know) and because they operate online, the prices they charge don’t include a fraction of their store lease space. Which means, I can get a alibaba dress for as little as S$25! The downside is, you don’t know what you are getting and they come in only one generic Asian size, which is size 6-8. For once, my leprechaun-ish frame comes to good use.
So, the highlight of the past couple of weeks is waiting for my online purchase to arrive (they are sent to my office). Oh, the thrill of opening the package and discovering how good or how cock these cheap buys are. I have received a few really good purchases from Loef. But the last dress I bought from this other online shop (let's not drop name here) looks like what a child bride in a third world country will wear on her wedding day. Hmm.. I might find a use for that on Halloween.
Apart from being inactive at work, I have also been inactive at working out. I caught a viral infection recently, and that put me out of action for 2-3 days. Okay, that’s just an excuse. I am just too lazy to exercise. I still climb twice a week but it’s mostly monkey-ing around, pun intended. So I added a weekly swimming to the routine but that wasn’t much of a workout because I always end up lying in the sun reading thrashy magazines. What really got me pumping was going to the gym with Toe. I’d always wanted to hire her as my personal trainer because she always talks a big game – and last night, I found out she REALLY play a big game at the gym.
You know those cartoons where they draw swirls around the eyes of the character who has gone mad? I saw those swirls in Toe’s eyes last night at the gym when she was barking at me: “Come on! Run faster!”. “Let’s carry a heavier ball!”, “Stop clowning around. Be serious!” and “ARE WE HAVING FUN?”. I have never seen her like this! She’s delirious with adrenaline. The last straw was when she shouted “Give me 5 more!” when she made me do repetitive sit-ups the high school way (aka. she sitting on my feet). I shouted back, “NO! YOU OWNSELF”.
It was fun to work out together, though. At least I don’t feel silly grunting and sweating by myself in front of all those hot guys in the gym. Also, Toe is relatively kind to me already. She once shouted, “ARE YOU MAN OR MOUSE?” at another male gym buddy of hers. I was told he squeaked back, “ I am Mouse! I am Mouse!” before flopping on his belly. Uh oh. Just got a sms from Toe telling me she had gone for a PT session at the gym to learn things to teach me. She asked, "ARE YOU EXCITED?"
* Gulp *
Ok got to go. It’s a Friday after all. I’m going to catch The American tonight. I am not a fan of George Clooney but there’s nothing better on the big screen. TGIF, folks!
