I read this post by a local blogger (I was directed to her website by accident) where after reading, it left me absolutely speechless. And that, my friend, is always a good sign, me thinks!
So I immediately send the link to Phillip and waited for him to read the post. Our collective laughing can be heard miles and miles into cyberspace.
Here’s the link.
We are laughing not because we agree with her views on fat people. What we found really amusing is the way she expresses her opinions, her choice of words and how she justifies herself. And she’s obviously very young lah, hence the somewhat misplaced feistiness and lack of tact.
Yes, she is definitely offensive but you have to give her credit for being brave. Anyone with half a mind to write something like that surely expects to be ostracised afterwards. I can only deduce that she is going for the shock factor, and she clearly succeeded. As expected, a couple of dozen offended folks left angry comments to which she went on to respond as follows (I quote):
“I am NOT going to apologise for the mean, fat people who got offended, becox YES, I WAS TALKING ABOUT THEM. And it's nothing wrong to talk about them if they are somewhat like i wrote. If they are like that, they are like that. Why can't i put it in words for them to mirror themselves? Ooooh.. IN YOUR FACE is offending? Then maybe you can zoom-out on my post okay? I hope it helps. If you're using Mac, you just have to press "command" and the minus sign. It'd make the fonts smaller. You are fat.”
Wah! Standing her ground! She even ended that paragraph with a stinger! Ouch!
“Also not going to apologise to the skinny / not fat people who got offended becox i wasn't talking about them”
You have to admit that’s a good comeback. Too logical.
Oh, to be young and sassy once more...
