Man on Cake

It was The Man's birthday last Saturday, and we went to get him an alibaba cake. I'd always wanted to try this DIY cake shop (called The Icing Room at 313 Somerset) where you purchase a "blank" old school vanilla sponge cake and you get an hour to decorate it the way you want. Colorful icing and cutesy marzipan sugar shapes provided.

So I dragged Toi (the artist) along to help draw a caricature of The Man on the cake while I (who never once pass Art class back in school) decorate the sides with bips and bops. I was kind of expecting a messy disaster since we are dealing with funnelled icing tubes with inexperienced hands but I must say, it turned out pretty good! Toi did a fantastic job. The degree of likeness is rather uncanny...


... except his eyes not so big lah!
