A bunch of us were sitting around having coffee on a lazy Sunday afternoon when Dailytoe suddenly burst into tears.
Puzzled looks all around. Not-so-puzzled ones from me because I know she has a propensity to do that from time to time - even 3-D animated animals fighting with one another on the movie screen makes her bawl.
"It's Chippy. He is dying," she said between sobs. "I have been keeping vigil to see if he eats and poops. I even sang Eternal Flame to him this morning."
Everyone automatically started coo-ing and making comforting sounds. The ones next to her offered pats on her shoulders while we discussed Chippy's ailments and age - but the million-dollar question remains: Why Eternal Flame?
"It's the first song that came to mind," she answered, slightly indignant. "What would YOU GUYS sing instead?"
A round table discussion ensued:
The Pig: "So long, farewell" from The Sound of Music
The Frou: "Que sera, sera. Whatever will be, will be"
The German: "Last Christmas - purely because I am in the festive mood"
The Boy: "Only you" (Awww all around)
We ended the session singing Eternal Flame to Dailytoe. We all sincerely hope that Chippy gets better soon.

I hear about Mount pleasant hospital..
I will ask my sister not to take Baby and Bubbly there anymore.. Hmph!
