I love December. It is a month of winding-down and God’s way of letting us know, it’s all good – you made it to year-end. He brings the rain so that we have a legitimate reason to stay in and just chill out with our loved ones or thoughts. He lets work recede by making our clients and bosses go on long vacation. He instills in us the spirit of giving through Christmas carols blasting in every shopping mall, making us uncontrollably generous in our Christmas shopping. He gives us a reason to make merry and drink to the yuletide season.
I also love the fact that after Christmas, we still have New Year Day to look forward to.
I just watched an extremely bad DVD copy of the Christmas movie, ‘The Holiday’. Sparing you the sappy details, I just want to comment that I note something which I never quite realized before. In the movie, both couple basically sealed their commitment to each other by agreeing to spend New Year Eve together.
I suppose it is a very romantic notion to spend the first day of a brand new year with that special someone. It possibly symbolizes a pledge to begin a new life together or at least a fresh start to be carried through the next year to come. It’s a time where fireworks are legally permissible, as between the couple.
So do not dismiss lightly that invitation you received for a date on New Year Eve. Who knows, New Year could be the new Valentine Day….with the advantage of flower prices staying the same *wink*
Maybe it's much too early in the game
Ooh, but I thought I'd ask you just the same
What are you doing New Year's, New Year's eve?
Wonder whose arms will hold you good and tight
When it's exactly twelve o'clock that night
Welcoming in the New Year, New Year's eve
Maybe I'm crazy to suppose I'd ever be the one you chose
Out of the thousand invitations you received
Ooh, but in case I stand one little chance
Here comes the jackpot question in advance:
