Froufrou's Food Survey

I have been carrying out a food survey of late. I ask of everyone I knew or meet, three (3) standard questions relating to food:

(1) What is your favourite food?
(2) What is the one dish you can eat every single day?
(3) What is one dish you would like to eat before you die?

I asked that their answer should be limited to just one food item per question.

Check out the results of my survey:

RESULTS:

1. You would assume that everyone would want to eat your favourite food everyday and right before you die, right? Wrong.

  • Almost everyone will NOT want to eat their favourite food everyday - for the simple reason that favourite food are reserved for special occasions and if you eat it everyday, it will lose its status as 'favourite food'
  • Almost everyone will choose a dish which they grew up eating for their everyday fanfare food.
  • And almost everyone will eat a dish which they feel the most sentimental about (not necessarily their favourite) for their last meal.

2. The most number of hits for favourite food is: Penang Asam Laksa

3. The most number of hits for dish you can eat every single day is: Chicken Rice

4. I did not receive two same answer for the one dish that you would like to eat before you die.

5. There is an unnamed pig who tried to be sneaky with her answers. For the one dish she can eat everyday, she chose 'Yong Tau Foo' (which is basically a soup dish consisting of your unlimited selection from an array of several hundred raw ingredients). For her last meal, she chose a 'Seafood platter'. Greed becomes her.

6. Most people chose a carbohydrate-heavy food for their every-day food - usually rice or bread.

7. There are at least two indecisive persons who 'ermmm..er... hmmmm' so long that they couldn't complete this survey.

8. Almost everyone's first response when asked the first question is, "WAHH! I like so many food - how to choose one? Can choose a few or not?"

9. There are some people out there with SERIOUS issues about food and chooses non-human food like salad and nuts. I mentally dismiss ever asking them out for a meal.

10. And lastly, there are only two persons whom I interviewed who chose the same answer for all three question. My very un-innovative sister who wants to eat fried chicken wings for every meal and my french climb buddy who chose high class fish eggs - caviar. No wonder lar, he is a frog.

So what would be your answers?

My dream diet: Breakfast at Soho - Big greasy English fry-up

Followed by afternoon High Tea at Harvey Nics - Tea and scones with Devonshire clotted cream

Finished off with dinner of Nasi Lemak, extra sambal!
