Lok lok is basically food on stick. It is usually sold from the back of a van where an array of food on skewers is displayed. You choose the sticks you want, ‘cook’ them by dipping in boiling water and then dunk it in chilli and/or sweet sauce before eating. FYI, the boiling water, chilli and sweet sauce are communal so there is nothing hygienic about lok lok.
So, I left my friends at the bar, walked down the street to the nearest lok lok van and started eating lok lok. I had my usual quail egg, beef balls, century egg and si ham. Pick, dip, dunk….. pick, dip, dunk… (repeat)
After I had my fill, I went back to the bar and continued drinking. As if nothing happen.
A few moments later, a BUSYBODY came into the bar and announced to everyone at my table that he just spotted an ugly sight earlier - Frou eating lok lok very unglamorously at the side of the road by herself. Everyone looked at me and started laughing. (Very funny meh?)
They asked what possessed me to go and eat lok lok all of a sudden. I said the same theory why you go to toilet when you need to pee, applies. They then ask how come I never invite any of them to go with me. Strange enough, I didn’t know how to answer that.
It was during dinner at my house last weekend when I (finally) know why.
We were all eating durians which Toi and Maro bought for my family, when my dad announce that durian is my mum’s favourite food. He said when they were young, my mum would go and buy durians and secretly go to the beach to eat them by herself.
Ahhh… it’s genetics!

I HEART Frou's mum! I used to sneak to beach alone to eat durians too!! "Why share a good durian?" says the greedy pig. Aside from that sharing issue, what usually happens when you wanna eat/do something and you're in a group of people is that, every person will have their say about it "Eeeeh so dirty, you mean you actually eat that??" "What's lok lok?" [then there'll be 10mins of explanation] "I want!! Wait for me, I go toilet first!" [said person will go toilet, meet ex/get into fight/pass out/throw up along the way, and by then its 3 hrs later and its time to go to the mamak]. Point being, you'll NEVER get your lok lok if you leave it to democratic choice.
Therefore, I can only surmise that this happened a long time ago before Frou got her powers to dictate what she wants to eat, and all the lil' pigs will jump to thy bidding.
