Frietes & Woonboot!

Today at Brugge, I visited the Fries Museum.

Did you know that fries originated from Belgium? In the Mosane region, inhabitants along the Meuse River are accustomed to catching fishes and deep frying them before eating. During winter when the river freezes and fish are scarce, they slice potatoes (to resemble fish) and fry them instead.

However, they came to be known as french fries (instead of walloon fries, rightfully!) because a bunch of french speaking belgian soldiers offered them to american soldiers during the war and the alibaba americans thought the fries are french. Gheez.

Anyway,

I dunno why I am writing such alibaba stufs. I'm typing this from my houseboat in Ghent. Yes I am living in a houseboat or 'woon boot' in Flemish. It's a big ass boat fully equipped with a working kitchen, chill out areas and my bedroom is in the control station - steering wheel and all. The girls are all in the laundry room ironing their sari for tomorrow. The Queen's wedding is tomorrow, and we just had a pseudu hen night here in the woonboot earlier. Junk food, wine, plucking eyebrows, massages and gossips.

I don't make much sense at the moment... culturally shocked and exhausted from all the travelling. I have a reading to do at the church tmro - The Queen gave me a very drama paragraph from Solomon - "Love is strong as death". She knows I have alibaba English and she is making me do public reading. So clever of her.

Will update more soon.... my tiredness is strong as zzz
