Sugar rush in JB

My brother decided to take a break from his gf and take (bored-outta-my-mind) me out instead.

He drove me to a local cinema to watch a cantopop movie featuring his favourite HK pop singer from the cutesy girl group, Twins. In the car, we listened to his J-pop collection and he taught me who is the latest and hottest kawaii girl band in Japan - a toss between Mary and Judy (or issit Judy and Mary?) and Go!Go!7188 (or issit 8177? I know there is definitely an exclaimation mark after ‘Go”)

I was complaining of starvation so he bought two hotdogs (dripping with mayo), a bag of sickly sweet caramel popcorn and two large fizzy drinks. We left no crumbs.

The movie is about this bubbly cute young chick who does nothing but chase after her idol, this obnoxious lecherous superstar singer. Of course she realized his true colours in the end and decides to help his ‘rival’ instead. Along the way, she also mistreated her childhood best friend who is hopelessly in love with her, only to find out that she does fancies him back right at the end of the show. I sat through the whole thing with my feet up and laughed “appreciatively” at the lame storyline by slapping my brother on his shoulders every so often.

We got stuck in a traffic jam on the way home. I got high on sugar (I probably consumed a week’s worth of my usual sugar intake in that two hour movie) and because it was Club Hitz on Class 95 fm, I started thumping to the beat and singing on top of my lungs in the car (“Sound of the Groove Armada with SUPERSTYLING, LING, LING, LING, LING….”)

My brother sighed and question our genetic relationship.

A Saturday night spent in Jaybee City.
